2025 will always feel like summer to me.

We soaked up every bit in our little lake town
Two little swim trunks drying on the deck
Evenings stretching long and slow with friends
Windows wide open, bikes leaning in the yard
Farmers market dinners cooking outside
Boat days that lasted until dark

Flowerbeds full, the garden growing
Cooked and canned what we grew
The background noise of the chickens out back, and crickets at dark

It’s one I’ll come back to often.

Blue was one of many horses I’ve owned in my lif

Blue was one of many horses I’ve owned in my life, but he’s one of the handful that I still think of. My childhood horse’s name was Blue, so when I bought him as a lanky two year old, still growing into his size, and heard his name, I was intrigued. He had a rare talent for everything he did, after a career in the cutting pen, he became the ranch horse you relied on for everything. I used him all over the ranch along the draws of the Snake River in Eastern Washington, & he quickly became the kind everyone wanted to saddle and use over anything else in the barn. I’ve since sold him, and moved from the ranch, but this photo still hangs in my home now, and I love the daily reminder of those horses you only get once in a lifetime.
